This Code of Conduct translates Jazz Break's core values into practical and ethical standards, which everyone involved in our activities must agree to, in order to participate.
We believe in creating a welcoming and safe environment where everybody can have a great experience, where everybody can learn, explore, express themselves, dance and feel free and safe. We do not tolerate any harassment or discrimination on the grounds of race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity and/or expression, sexual orientation, religion (if any), ability, age, social origin, physical appearance, body shape or size or any other ground.
We do not tolerate any form of violence.
All participants to Jazz Break activities (including organizers, volunteers, artists, participants) are required to agree with the Code of Conduct in order to attend and participate in the Jazz Break activities. Organizers will enforce this code throughout all activities. We expect all participants to cooperate and make sure that everybody feels safe and can have a great experience.
In case anything goes wrong, feel free to speak up and approach Jazz Break organizers and teachers.
Jazz Break reserves the right to refuse access to activities in case our Code of Conduct is not respected. Be aware that no refunds will be issued in such circumstances.
Please be respectful of other dancers. Accept that everybody is free to decide when, with whom and how they want to dance. Accept a no to an invitation for a dance, no justification required. Everybody is free to say no when asked to dance or to interrupt a dance mid dance, without owing anyone an explanation.
Please pay attention to your dance partners: if your partner shows signs of discomfort, fatigue or pain, ask if they want to rest or if you can do anything to help. Determine in advance whether your dance partner is ok with a close embrace or dips or lifts.
Also be mindful about the dance floor: no big moves, no air steps, no big dips or lifts on a social dance floor. Save them for jam circles, competition, practice time.
Accidents can happen. Should you step on somebody else's foot or hurt somebody, please apologize and make sure that person is alright.
