Programme Description

On Thursday (1.5h) and on Saturday (1h)

Curious about Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz? Or, do you need a refresher? Team Jazz Break has got your back! These workshops are the perfect opportunity for absolute beginners to get a taste of the dance and warm up for an energetic party on Saturday night! Bring your friends, or come meet new ones, and dance the night away! No partner required. Join one, or both!

Solo Jazz Track

You love Solo Jazz and have been dancing for at least 2 years. You have a broad Solo Jazz vocabulary and are confident doing variations on these basic steps. You know at least some classic routines such as the Shim Sham, the Tranky Doo, the Big Apple or the Trickeration by heart. You start improvising and developing your own style, but feel that it’s not easy.

In this track, you will have three Solo Jazz workshops: one with Frida, one with Skye and one with both! If you also wish to do some couple dancing, you may combine this track with the special topic Saturday evening class.

Intermediate Track

You have been Swing dancing for at least one year. You are at ease with basic Lindy Hop figures such as the Circle, Tuck Turn, Send out, Swing out and more. You have some basic, but solid Solo Jazz vocabulary. You can comfortably dance to slow and mid-tempo songs, but you might struggle with fast tempo. You have some understanding of Swing music and musicality. Yet it is challenging for you to focus on the music and musicality while dancing.

In this track, you will have two Lindy Hop workshops as well as one Solo Jazz workshop. You can combine your track with the special topic Saturday evening class and/or our Solo Jazz workshop with Frida and Skye!

Advanced Track

You have been Swing dancing for at least 3 years and feel comfortable in Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz and Charleston. You live on the dance floor: you social dance as often as possible, you are travelling to international festivals, you may already be teaching (occasional) beginner classes in your local scene. You listen to Swing music whenever you can, you work on your musicality, you try to adapt your dancing to the style of the music, you risk to play with rhythms and syncopation, you work on your own personal styling. You like to work on your technique and connection with your dance partner.  You’re ready for a challenge!

In this track, you will have two Lindy Hop workshops as well as one Solo Jazz workshop. You can combine your track with the special topic Saturday evening class and/or our Solo Jazz workshop with Frida and Skye!

Saturday: Lindy Hop Special Topic

Join Frida and Skye for a surprise special topic workshop on Saturday afternoon! This workshop is a mixed level, open to every dancer who has at least basic knowledge of Lindy Hop and Charleston.

Sunday: Solo Jazz with Frida & Skye

Join the Solo Jazz group for this special Solo Jazz workshop given by Frida and Skye! Please read the level description of the Solo track.

About Frida & Skye

Frida & Skye dancing

Frida

Frida Segerdahl started dancing in her early childhood. Initially dedicated to Swedish folk dances, she quickly fell in love with Lindy Hop when she first attended the famous Herräng Dance Camp in her teens. Since then, she has performed, competed and taught at every corner of the world, inspiring countless dancers and contributing to this art form with her own style. Nowadays, on top of teaching at several international festivals and workshops around the world, she is also part of the board of Herräng Dance Camp.

Skye

Skye Humphries was initially introduced to Lindy Hop by his mother in his late childhood. Since then, he has developed a true passion for social dancing and Jazz, which led him to pursue dancing as a career. Over the past 20 years, he has gained international recognition as a talented dancer and skilled instructor, being a source of inspiration for many dancers across the world. Always bringing his unique personality and style, he also advocates for the cultural heritage of Lindy Hop and Jazz while sharing his passion with the community.
