About Us

Jazz Break is a non-profit association, founded in 2024 in Luxembourg by a group of friends that share a common passion for Jazz dances, as well as their cultural background and heritage.

Teaching Style

Lindy Hop, as well as other vernacular Jazz dances, is a social dance. It was born on the dancefloor and it belongs on the dancefloor. We believe this important aspect has been lost over time, and so it is our goal to adopt an old-school way of teaching and training, to respect authenticity and foster spontaneity. In other words, we welcome the philosophy of “learning by observing and doing”.

We are inspired by the authentic style of Jazz dances. We draw inspiration from old clips and movies in an effort to rediscover and stay true to the roots, while continuing to find our own style.

Culture & Awareness

Cultural awareness and appreciation are at the centre of our efforts. We aim to appreciate and respect the African-American roots of these dances, while on our own dance journey.

Self-Awareness

We acknowledge that we are on an ongoing learning path regarding cultural topics and the roots of the dances we appreciate, and we strive for improvement. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you think we could or should improve on any of these points.
