Meet the female dancers of the old times! Ornella will introduce you to the greatest female dancers of the Swing Era. Let yourselves be inspired by their styling, their rhythms, their expressive dancing, their moves and be ready to explore your own dancing.
For this workshop you should have knowledge of Solo Jazz moves. Note that while we aim to take inspiration from the female dancers of the Swing Era, this workshop is absolutely not gender based. Everybody is more than welcome to join.This Solo Jazz workshop is all about flow and groove in your Jazz dancing in connection of the music: find those groovy rhythms of the music and put them in your body and in your feet.
For this workshop, basic Solo Jazz knowledge is needed.Join Ornella and Bao to delve into the authentic style of Lindy Hop, inspired by old clips. This workshop is suitable for dancers with solid basic knowledge, as well as more advanced dancers. No partner required for registration.

This workshop is the perfect opportunity for absolute beginners to get a taste of the dance and warm up for an energetic party right afterwards! Bring your friends, or come meet new ones, and dance the night away! No partner required.
In this workshop, our followers will learn to fly! Ornella and Bao will introduce us to the world of air steps. Do you already know some air steps? Then join to work on technical aspects of those steps and maybe get some new inspiration!
Exceptionally, we will not change partners in this workshop: you will need to sign up with a fixed partner whom you trust. You don't have a partner? Make a call for a partner in our community chat or on social media, or approach us to help you find one.
You are an experienced dancer, you spend countless hours on a dance floor to practice and to social dance, you may already be teaching locally. You dance comfortably to any song (although you might struggle a bit when the music gets extra fast), you explore musicality and rhythms. And above all, you want to be challenged. Then, this advanced training is for you!
Participation in this training is based on admission with Team Jazz Break. If we do not yet know you, we might ask you for a little explanation on your dancing background and/or for a short video of you dancing. Feel free to reach out in case of questions.

Ornella Mickie
Visual artist, Ornella Mickie is also a dancer, performer and teacher of Lindy Hop and Jazz from Brussels. Whitey's Lindy Hoppers, Harvest Moon Ball, Spirits moves, Old movies from the great African American masters are her sources of inspiration. With a background in gymnastics, classical dance and Tango, she flourished in Lindy Hop in their rhythmic and theatrical aspects. She's part of the Jazz performance group "The Old Soulz". She performs and teaches in Belgium and abroad. As a teacher, Ornella wants to share her passion by combining technique, challenge, individual expression and joy!
Bao
In the rhythmic embrace of jazz partner dance, Bao discovered not just a means of self-expression, but a therapeutic journey that shares boundless energy. After an extensive exploration into various dance forms and trying to find a continuity across many disciplines, he ultimately found his way in the roots of swing dance, matching his energy to the rhythmic groove of the bebop and hard bop tunes.
Drawing inspiration from all these experiences along the way, he infused the dynamism of diverse styles into their swing dance repertoire by creating a harmonious blend of movement and expression while still staying true to the essence of the authentic jazz dance.
Designer by day, dancer by night, Bao is also part of the Jazz Maniacs and the Old Soulz performance groups.
